At its Core it Means You Do Not Fit People into the System.
You shape the System Around the People!
In practice, Person Centred Care means:
• Care plans reflect preferences, not general and standard
• Risk assessments balance safety with choice
• Communication adapts to the individual
• Daily routines reflect the person’s history and habits
• Decisions involve the person as far as possible
It links directly to autonomy and &. Autonomy means control over your own life.
Dignity means being treated as someone with value, not as a task to complete.
Under CQC expectations, person centred care connects strongly to Regulation 9. Care and treatment must meet needs and reflect preferences. It also sits within the Caring and Responsive key questions. Inspectors look for evidence that people influence their care, not simply receive it.
Person Centred Care is about Power!
Who holds it.
Who uses it.
Who benefits from it.
